aNouC Interview

csf`cyQ: Hi, could you please introduce yourself to our readers ?

aNouC: Hi there... my name is anouc, and I'm originally from Barcelona and I've been a gamer since they day I was born !

csf`cyQ: Before you came in touch with CS, we know you were a famous quake player. What can you tell us about this period ?

aNouC: I will never stop being a Quake player, thats why I'm still active since Q4 is out, playing together with the girlz 0f destruction. I had very good times with that game, the tournaments, the meetings, the parties... and of course a really bunch of nice people!

csf`cyQ: How did you discover the competitive universe of CS ?

aNouC: I was part of SK back then and I was there the day we decided to take in a famous CS team from Sweden. By this time I knew more and more girls were gamers but they were not quakers, everyone was a cs player so I thought it was time for me to take a look at the game !  I started by creating the Female Nations Cup where I could learn a lot about the girls and the game itself. Right after that I decided to create the female CS team in Sk and they agreed with me!

csf`cyQ: Tell us a bit about your first clans

aNouC: Well I played Quake 1 in GQC (Gore Quake Clan), then I created the female only clan badGirls in 1998 (still active nowadays as multifemalesquad!), then I moved to the Q3 team in SK and played Ra3 in pRophecy and unmatched, that was my Q1 - Q3 period. Then in SK I changed from Q3 to CS, been there for a while till the team was closed. Then I created a team with some spanish friends which ended up being the female cs team in Fnatic. From there we got asked by x6tence.AMD where I've been playing the last two years, till this week that we decided to join (with the same players) redCode.X-Fi. And since November 2005, so for one year, Im back to Q4 together with the ladies from g0d.

csf`cyQ: What can you say to us about the girl scene at your beginnings?

aNouC: oOps... when I started with Q1, I got in touch with the whole scene and started to have a real knowledge about it. I noticed that there were very few female players, thats why I created the badGirlsclan team, because I knew we had at least 4 girls playing the game in Spain and thought it was a great thing to put them together and maybe bring new talents in the future! Thats the way everything started for me, aswell as for the female scene I would say. With CS many girls discovered that world and decided to join and since then it kept on growing.

csf`cyQ: Now, do you think that the situation has evolved and maybe one day the girls will be able to reach the men level?

aNouC: It is a fact of the number of players we have and the time they spend with the game. The dedication is very important in anything u want to do "professional" in this world, and we lack some of this in the female scene. Of course there are few teams that are taking things serious and are doing a great job, trying to get better every single day. Is not like "girls cant play" and all that stuff u can read everywhere... There are individual players with a really high level, but since they are playing in female teams, is not that easy to improve as a whole team, so many people have no clue bout that!  I think the scene is following its natural way and we have to let it happen...

csf`cyQ: Can you describe to us, how are you join x6tence and explain the feelings with the other girls?

aNouC: I had a nice friendship with Lena and iRene and together we decided to do something. Since we couldn't find spanish players to complete our team, we took some foreign ones to create m!sSundaZt00d, which very soon renamed to fnatic. Together and under this flag we went to the ESWC 2004 and it was a real disaster to be honest! Right after the event, x6tence.AMD contacted me to offer us the possibility to create a spanish cs female squad together with them. By then was impossible to be fully spanish so we continued with our foreign players. Together we went to the Rixhack and to the CPL in Barcelona. Our results weren't the best and we really thought it was about the language, making the game slowly. Finally we completed the team with spanish girls that told us they would like to dedicate time enough to the game and to the team, so we started our spanish adventure. For the first time a spanish team was getting in a competitive level and that was a great feeling !  We've done well at ESWC 2005, we had a couple of bootcamps after that, we went to a spanish LAN with the wishes to keep as a female team but being able to compete with any male team in our country...

csf`cyQ: How did you managed to juggle between g0d and x6tence ?

aNouC: I was in x6tence when g0d asked me to join them when Q4 was out, I missed the Quake feeling so much so I thought it was a good thing. I told them I wouldn't stop playing CS but since Q4 was 1on1 I could just play it when I didnt have any CS pracc... I also asked x6tence if they had any problem with that, there were no real sponsor conflicts so everything was smooth!

csf`cyQ: Was the gameplay change hard to take ?

aNouC: From CS to Quake is fine, because Quake means adrenaline for me, means something fast and I love it...Its harder when u go from Quake to CS hehe

csf`cyQ: Which experience do you remember with x6tence?

aNouC: We had fun in all our trips but I will never forget the ESWC 2005, such a feeling is difficult to repeat... we got a third place when we expected absolutly nothing. We won, the people around, the music, the clap clap after the last game... and the hug all five had made us cry of happyness. Theres a video of that moment, but even without the video I would never forget it.

csf`cyQ: Now, x6tence it's over, can you tell us the reasons?

aNouC: Well x6 is over yes... they are used to the male scene mainly and the female one is not exactly the same. We had to do few changes in these two years, and it was not easy but still we kept playing together and doing our best in international events... When we told them bout going to the DreamHack they were not so sure about it, basically because of the stability of the team, which is understable when you have done previous changes and when you take back people that was already out of the team. Then we got an interesting offer from redCode and we accepted, having no harsh feelings with x6tence.

csf`cyQ: Your team will still play together in redCode, why this choice?

aNouC: Well, because as we all know (specially the female playlers), its difficult to have a stable team where all five have the same goals and want to spend as much as a team needs. Its difficult to see new faces in our lineups because of that and actually we took in xiO to replace Lena some months ago. And today Lena is back, which is great, but MiriaM decided to pay more attention to her real life, thats why the lineup changed a little bit.

csf`cyQ: Que esperas de vuelta por parte de una organizacion como redCode?

aNouC: We want support, its a basic and important thing for us. We just want to compete, go whenever the fight is and show our best!

csf`cyQ: Which are your objectives for this season? And for the team?

aNouC: At the moment the DreamHack in few days... there we will see in which point we are after our break and what is needed to do till the next stop, which is the ESWC 2007. Of course would be great to get to visit more events before the ESWC, but there's nothing planned at the moment.

csf`cyQ: We wish you a good luck, do you want to say something more?

aNouC: I want I want ... Thanks first of all and I would like to thank my mates and redCode.X-Fi for their big interest in our project!

csf`cyQ: Thank you very much aNouC, good luck again for this new e-life !
